Calloway Oil Company was founded in 1957 by Hugh and Helen Calloway. At the time of the opening,
Mr. Calloway was a 10 year employee of Phillips Petroleum Company and in 1957 had visions of introducing
Phillips 66 to East Tennessee. By 1959 Calloway Oil Company had 11 accounts and Mr. and Mrs. Calloway haven’t
looked back since. In the 1980’s service stations started vanishing throughout East Tennessee and were being
replaced with convenient stores. E-Z Stop Food Marts was founded in 1984, with the intention of being the next
generation of convenient stores. In the beginning E-Z Stop Food Marts’ were primarily Phillips 66 sites, but
in 1992 a contract with Exxon was signed and Calloway Oil Company and E-Z Stop Food Marts became co-branded
companies. Today, Hugh M. Calloway Jr. is the CEO of Calloway Oil Company and Tommy F. Hunt is the CEO of E-Z
Stop Food Marts. There are 22 E-Z Stop sites spread throughout East Tennessee and it still prides itself on being
the next generation of convenient stores.
